Bran Muffin Mix

3 c. All Bran cereal

2 c. 40% Bran Flakes cereal

2 c. boiling water


Mix and stand till cool.


1 c. shortening

2 c. sugar


Mix together and add to above bran mixture.

Add:

4 eggs

1-quart buttermilk

5 c. flour

5 tsp. soda

Add raisins or nuts or both 1½ cups each, they are optional.

Let stand overnight in a sealed container. Stir well each time you use batter. Bake in greased muffin tins at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. It can be made up in advance and lasts for a week or two in the refrigerator.
