4-5 chicken thighs
1/2 onion, chopped
1/2 tsp. sage
Dash bay leaves
2 carrots, chopped
5-6 mushrooms
1 recipe dumplings
1/4 c. flour
Boil chicken in pot of water. Drain out water leaving 1 cup. Cut chicken into smaller pieces and add all the other ingredients and simmer for 10 minutes or until veggies are cooked. Prepare dumpling recipe. Spoon dumpling batter on top of chicken in little mounds. Simmer covered 15 minutes. Best served with gravy.
Dumplings:
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 T. shortening
1/2 c. buttermilk
Combine flour baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening. Add buttermilk stirring softly until moistened.
