Cherry Cake

Kate Berntsen. This recipe was dated Aug. 1, 1941.

1/2 c. margarine

1 c. sugar

Cream together. Add 3 eggs, beat well with the above.

Put the following in sieve:

2 c. flour

1/2 tsp. salt-small tsp.

1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Pit one quart of cherries and stir in one good level teaspoonful soda.

Mix well and add this, together with the little juice, which is in them after pitting them to the eggs, sugar, and shortening.

Put into three small bread tins and bake in 375-degree oven for 40 minutes.
